Ministry and Counsel’s focus is on nurturing members and attenders of Milwaukee Friends Meeting.
About our committee:
Ministry & Counsel nurtures the spiritual life of the community as a whole and of its individual members so that all may be brought closer to God and to each other and be open to the leadings of the spirit. This includes the concerns of pastoral care for building a community in which all members find acceptance and loving care.
Membership on this committee is by appointment for three-year terms. The 8 members (plus the clerk) are members or seasoned friends.
Why members serve:
“I enjoy being on Ministry and Counsel because this committee is concerned with caring for our community. We typically meet once per month in the Meetinghouse Library where we discuss a variety of items important to the wider Meeting. The Clerk of Meeting is part of this group and often asks us to take up issues that need to be addressed. We work from an agenda that includes:
Worship/Reflections; How is Meeting for Worship; Clerk’s Concerns; Pastoral Care; Closing worship; Signing cards from M&C to members/attenders who might enjoy a note. The friendships that are established are long term and wonderful.”
